The Volga like you’ve never seen it

River cruises are often not considered to be “real” cruises. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, what a lot of people will tell you is that cruising in these new, gigantic cruises that have everything and something else accessible to passengers, from fast food restaurants to pizza delivery; these are the ones that break the spirit of a cruise. People say that when you cruise, you do it for the experience, to have a break from the routine and to meet new people, and all of this sounds excellent. And this is why top class Volga river cruises are excellent as well.

Some people have a dark and strange idea of what Russia is nowadays. These people probably get their notions from movies, though, and these can’t be trusted. A filmmaker trying to show a town in Russia will have to make it immediately recognizable to people. And if there isn’t a shot of the Kremlin in it, it’s hard to make people aware that most big towns in Russia look exactly the same as big towns anywhere else in the Western World. Nothing like cruising the Volga to break this notion: it’s Russia at its finest, most delicate and, at the same time, strongest.
