Experiencing Diversity in Death Valley
The California Gold Rush was the spark that led traveling Americans into the unknown beauty that is Death Valley. The beauty and diversity of nature can be seen everywhere. Located in the Mojave Desert in California, Death Valley can boast of having some of the hottest, driest, and lowest locations in all of North America.
Why would anyone want to visit? One view near sunset from the dunes in Death Valley looking out toward Nevada can be like finding a slice of Heaven on Earth. The peace and tranquility of the rolling sand dunes to how Death Valley can bloom with life such as wildflowers and the birds that patrol them are why tourists come back time and time again. It is not uncommon to spot a Roadrunner in the Death Valley National Park.
A walk along the Furnace Creek or Amargosa River will show visitors the interesting site of watching the waterways disappear into the valley floor. Those disappearing streams create ephemeral lakes which allow the wildflowers to bloom and the diversity of life in a desert to take root.
A trip to Death Valley would never be complete without a visit to Lake Badwater. The lake moves across the valley floor showcasing its greenish waters and salt-coated flats. Celebrating the diversity of life, visitors can find pupfish wading in Glacial Lake Manly, a once large lake from Death Valley’s watery past.
Death Valley is just not home to Roadrunners, wildflowers and Pupfish. The Native American Timbisha tribe call Death Valley home and have resided there for around 1,000 years. Tourists will find villages around Furnace Creek and Grapevine Canyon near the site of Scotty’s Castle.
The Picturesque landscapes of the sand dunes or sunrise over Zabriskie Point are points of inspiration found within the valley.
